All sea carriers adopt different procedures for breabulk freight & project cargo, these will be explained by your Collett Shipping Manager at point or order.

In general terms, the following ancillary elements are considered by Collett when calculating freight & ancillary charges for shipping breakbulk freight and project cargo.


  • Collection from exporter/shipper
  • Terminal handling cost to load, to consolidation or international carrying mode
  • Export/European Union documentation
  • Insurance of goods while in transit
  • International freight
  • Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF)
  • Currency Adjustment Factor (CAF)
  • Additional ancillary surcharges such as canal charges etc.

Collett Breakbulk & Project Cargo Shipments

  • Terminal handling/unloading at destination
  • Load On, Load Off charges (Lo-Lo) when merchant carriage is used
  • Import/European Union documentation
  • Duty and taxes – where applicable
  • Delivery to importer/receiver of cargo
  • Demurrage or rent charges for delays involved, paid by who causes the delay
  • VAT on charges incurred on intra-European Union movements

 

Collett Marine's dedicated Shipping Managers will oversee your project, your Manager will explain the ancillary charges relevant to your freight, breakbulk or project cargo shipment at the time of ordering.  This is not an exhaustive list, and ancillary charges for each shipping project are dependent on several factors.  A custom quote will be provided specifically for your shipping project taking into account all the above factors and any other potential ancillary adjustments.
