Four Heavies Awards for Team Collett!
Wow, what a night! At the first ever HeavyTorque Heavies Awards, Team Collett returned home with FOUR awards!
The Heavies industry excellence awards promised to be a fantastic evening and it didn't disappoint! The Collett Team turned up in all their finery for the evening with fingers crossed that we wouldn't leave empty handed. After a lovely meal we eagerly awaited the start of the awards, host for the evening Quentin Wilson took to the stage and we were underway.
The first award to head Collett's way, Job of the Year Over 80 Tonnes! A tricky project, this involved navigating the busy London road network with a 4.72m diameter tunnel boring machine from Hackney Sub Station through to Shawell, Leicestershire. With a spring in his step Project's Director Eric Crosby took to the stage to collect the award.

Next up came the Most Significant Safety Initiative award, there was no shortlist for this category as the judges decided there was one outright winner, and that winner was... Collett! The development of Collett's JAUPT approved FORS Safe Urban Driving course demonstrates our commitment to improving safety throughout the industry. SHEQ Manager Nigel Thornton took to the stage to collect the award, our Training Manager Andy Mullen would have loved to collect the award but he was back at the office delivering one of the courses!
That's two!
Operator of the Year, the most coveted of the awards. Presented to the operator who has shown tremendous all-round commitment to professionalism, innovation, initiative, environment, safety, training and customer care. And the winner is Collett! We were absolutely delighted as David Collett took to the stage and collected this fantastic accreditation.
That's three!
With three awards in the bag we couldn't have been happier! But things weren't over yet, we approached the final award of the evening, the Judges Special Award voted for by the industry, HTA members and the judges. An award to recognise an individual whose passion, dedication, knowledge and expertise places them firmly at the forefront of the industry, someone who is committed to providing the best. And the award goes to Managing Director David Collett! A huge cheer erupted from the Collett table as David took to the stage to collect his award. A fantastic achievement for David and a shining jewel in the Collett award cabinet.
